The Annelid Launcher fires worm projectiles which are telekinetically directed towards their intended targets that do more damage to organic targets than any other exotic weapon in the game. While all of this may make the Annelid Launcher sound like a big pain in the ass, the end result is worth it. Just to make matters worse, the Launcher requires Worm Ammo which is not the most common thing in the world (although you can collect worms yourself by using beakers on worm piles). If you want to repair the Launcher you'll need a repair skill of 5, if you want to modify it, you'll need a modification skill of 2, and just keeping the damn thing in working order requires a maintenance skill of 4. Even after you've managed to research this bizarre armament, you're still going to need a Strength and Agility of 3 and an Exotic Weapons skill of 6 to be able to operate it. This exotic weapon is actually constructed of a semi organic matter and requires a Research Skill of 6 and small amounts of Molybdenum and Selenium to even start work on. There may be times when you're willing to give up the extra protection of powered armor in order to save what precious energy you have. While powered armor will certainly offer you more protection, it is important to remember that, although it requires a great deal of strength to use, Heavy Armor does not require any power to operate.

Once you've got it on, it will reduce all combat damage by 40%. Heavy Armor carries some pretty serious weight and requires at least a strength of 6 to equip. All a user needs to do is to put the suit on a go looking for a fight. Fortunately, all this technology is completely behind the scenes. This extremely complex defensive system lays shielding panels, which are made up of a fine titanium and kevlar weave, over a regenerative polymer gel to achieve its ultra protective qualities. Enter the UltraTech class 5 full-torso body armor, the finest non-powered armor yet crafted by modern science. Once things really start to heat up, you'll need the strongest protection that exists to keep yourself alive from moment to moment. The payoff is sweet enough though, Medium Armor reduces all combat damage by 30%. Unfortunately, they've also achieved a greater weight as well ¿ the Medium Armor requires a strength of 4 to equip. SeeniTech achieves this superior protection with a triple layer composite of self-stiffening resins and long-chain replicating polymers. Used by light infantry platoons and UNN corporate and military forces, this medium strength armor takes a lot more punishment than the Dartech mesh. When you've finally figured out that the Light Armor manufactured by Dartech is not going to get you through serious combat alive, you might want to check out SeeniTech's class 3 armor. Light Armor requires a strength of 2 to equip and reduces all combat damage by 20%.

While there's no doubt that the Light Armor is better than walking around naked, this isn't a suit that you're going to be able to depend on when the heat is really on. The Dartech suit is fairly common and is sold to all sorts of low budget armed forces who who can't afford anything better. The suit is basically a mesh of Kevlar and substrate steel that not only resists penetration, but also spreads the force of any blow received out from its focal point, reducing the amount of energy that pushes straight into the wearer. This Dartech class 1 armor is a super-lightweight suit designed to protect the wearer from impact damage. While this is by no means intended to be a comprehensive listing (there's a lot of stuff in this game), it should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the final product. We're going to start today with the armor and weapons, and we'll give you the rest of the info over the next couple of weeks. We also plan to include a little info on a couple of enemies that will show up in the game. We've divided the list up into Armor, Items, OS Upgrades, Psi-Powers, and Weapons.

Now that there's only a couple of weeks left before System Shock 2's August 11th release, we finally managed to squeeze some details out of the folks over at Looking Glass and Irrational Games about the items, armor and weaponry that you'll have access to in the game.
